Have you really wondered that what makes ubuntu so famous?????
Ubuntu is very similar to windows(largest number of people use windows in fact 91%) so when a windows user shifts to ubuntu he/she wants the same stuffs as it were in windows:

Open any folder(called nautlius window in ubuntu world) and go to Edit-->Preferences and hit the behaviour tab,you will find the option to have your items opened in single clicks.
